This course begins under the assumption that the students are at many different stages of their art education. Due to the vast range of experiences, this class begins with the basic elements and principles of art. From there, students will be introduced to crucial art movements and media.

Students are expected to actively participate in class discussions as well as use class time wisely on performance-based assessments. In addition to normal classwork, students will be responsible for completing an art journal.

Class Descriptions and Expectations

Art 2

This course begins under the assumption that the students are familiar with basic art media and art history. A review of important principles and time periods will take place before diving into a more rigorous art education. Students will work to create original pieces that demonstrate design knowledge. This class is expected to create, perform, respond, and connect ideas at a higher thinking level than Art 1. The art journal from Art 1 is also used in this class throughout the year.
